Woodworking described in 350 words or less.

Google defines the term woodworking, as the process of making something out of wood. However, the definition of woodworking is so much more than just something made from wood. For example, with every project being handmade each one is different, they each tell a story. They all have their own dents and spots that you make the back side of the piece because you messed up. The story of every woodworking build is how the makers communicate their craftsmanship. Everything on the project has been done because someone wanted it to happen, and not some machine, and that’s the beauty of woodworking.

Woodworking is about, the joy of walking into the shop smelling the beautiful pine, to the walnut wood. Its about the little things, to cutting the perfect dovetails or just drilling in some pocket holes. Woodworking is about the crazy amounts of saw dust created after each project. It’s about that feeling as you put the first coat of stain on. To say woodworking is just about creating something, would be preposterous. Woodworking is so much more than that, it’s creating unique one of kind things that each tell a different story.

Woodworking is about creativity; it is making the project you have dreamed. It’s about expressing yourself, making anything one can imagine. Woodworking is about the countless hours you spend on a project for it all to go wrong, but so excited to do it over. Woodworking is about learning the classic and new techniques and growing as a woodworker from every project.

Woodworking is about wood, the connection these pieces have with the nature. Looking at each growth ring of the lumber which tell a different story. It’s about conserving all the wood you don’t use and saving them for the next project. As there is no wasting in woodworking since everything can be a different project. Woodworking is about working, from building one’s shop, to building a stool. It is the countless times you sand your project multiple times. It’s the fascination, and appreciation after every project you finish.
