Quarantine Crafts: Winnie the Pooh Jewelry Box

As COVID-19 is as prominent in our lives as ever, Schneller&co. continues to present our customers with entertaining activities to fill up the free time. This week’s Quarantine Craft is a Winnie the Pooh jewelry box!! Winnie the Pooh, as many of you may know, is a staple for many childhoods, and today we’ll be using the infamous character as inspiration. Now let’s make this jewelry box!!

A Jewelry Box

A jewelry box is a great way to store accessories such as necklaces, rings, and earrings to separate them from other objects within your home. Today, I’m giving you a step-by-step painting a small, wooden jewelry box into Winnie Pooh’s honey jar.

Supplies:

  • A premade wooden container from any craft store near you (the one used is from Hobby Lobby)

  • White, Rust-Oleum American Accents 2X Ultra Cover, Primer Spray

  • 3 Apple Barrel paints in the shades Red Apple, Black, and Yellow Flame

  • Various paintbrushes, in a variety of forms (all brushes used are from Artist’s Loft)

Step 1: Primer

For a better application, spray the White, Rust-Oleum American Accents 2X Ultra Cover, Primer Spray onto the jewelry box. After thoroughly coating the box, the wood should have a white finish.

Step 2: Top Base Coat

Using a shades Red Apple and Black, mix in a 3:1 ration to achieve the maroon red seen in the reference photo above. Once mixed, lay onto both the bottom and top of the lid evenly. For a solid color, layer three coats of the paint.

Step 3: Bottom Base Coat

For the bottom base coat, paint with the shade Yellow Flame for its entirety, using four coats.

Step 4: Lettering

Since, the handwriting on the honey jar is messy and imperfect, tracing with a pencil for lettering is unnecessary. Take a thin paintbrush with the shade Black and write the words “hunny” in all caps.

And now you’re all done!! Let us at Schneller&co. know if you used these instructions to make your version. We hope you enjoyed this week’s blog post of Quarantine Crafts and wish to see you again. Stay safe, wash your hands, and social distance.
